Sweet Escape: Ice Cream Truck Stolen In CT With $30K Of Treats Inside

A 35-year-old man with a huge sweet tooth was arrested in Connecticut after he hopped in an ice cream truck and made a run for it – stealing $30,000 worth of the sweet stuff along with the truck.

Thirty-five-year-old Travis Jones was nabbed after he stole an ice cream truck that had $30,000 worth of treats inside, police said.

The New Haven County incident occurred on Monday, Jan. 29 in the city of West Haven, according to local police.

At around 9 p.m. that night, the Shahi Kulfi truck’s original driver was stopped in a parking lot on Boston Post Road delivering sweet treats when Travis Jones, age 35, hopped in and drove off.

There was $30,000 worth of ice cream inside at the time.

Jones and the truck were later found driving south on I-95 in Milford. He was pulled over and arrested on the Exit 27A ramp.

Police transported the thief back to West Haven, where he was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and first-degree larceny.

Additional details, including where Jones is from, were not made public by West Haven Police.
